TNPSC Group 4 Question Paper Trend Analysis
We analyzed 800 real questions from the 2019, 2022, 2024, and 2025 exams to find which topics are asked most — this is not a guess, it's real data.
This analysis is based on the 800 question paper questions across 4 years (2019, 2022, 2024, 2025) already published in full on our site — every question was sourced directly from tnpsc.gov.in's official Tentative Answer Key. Of these, 792 questions were categorized by topic.
⚠️ Important finding — Part-A varies completely by your medium
Part-B (General Studies, questions 101-200) is identical for both mediums. But Part-A (questions 1-100) is completely different:
- Tamil Medium (based on 2019, 2022 exams)
- Literature ~37% · Grammar ~26% · General Tamil Knowledge (antonyms, proverbs) ~7% · Others ~30%
- English Medium (based on 2024, 2025 exams)
- English Grammar + Comprehension + Figure of Speech ~55% · Others ~45%
💡 Coach's advice: Prepare according to the medium you choose when applying. In Tamil medium, Literature (Sangam literature, Thirukkural, author names) is very important. In English medium, don't ignore Grammar rules + Figure of speech.
Part-B General Studies — Topic-wise percentage (all 4 years combined)
Based on 392 categorized questions, here's how often each topic appears in Part-B:
The remaining ~40% is broad general knowledge — national parks, historical figures, government schemes, and similar topics spread widely rather than concentrated in one area. A broad general reading habit beats deep study of a single topic here.
🎯 Coach's Recommendations
- Aptitude stays steady at ~20% — this proportion holds every year without change. It's a learnable section — daily practice gives guaranteed marks.
- Polity is the single biggest topic in General Studies — spend extra time on Articles, Amendments, Fundamental Rights, and Parliament structure.
- Tamil medium candidates: Questions on Sangam literature, Thirukkural, and author/poet names are very common — don't skip these.
- English medium candidates: Practice Grammar rules (tense, voice, preposition) + Figure of speech thoroughly — this alone is over half of Part-A.
- General Studies is broad and unpredictable — rather than deeply studying just one topic, keep up daily current affairs and a general reading habit.
